Kufunda Learning Village

Kufunda Village is a learning centre in Zimbabwe.  NewStories has been in relationship with Kufunda since its birth in 2002 and we are delighted to share and deepen our learning together about building healthy and vibrant communities.

Kufunda’s journey is one of exploring and seeking to live what we believe to be possible, perhaps even living the future today.

Kufunda cares about people creating their own solutions. And about coming together, working with the diversity and wealth that we have, to create what we need. Core to our way of working is The Art of Hosting and Harvesting Meaningful Conversations. We believe that change begins with conscious and confident people, coming together in conversation to explore what matters most to them. Then healthy action can flow.

Through this journey Kufunda learns about the art – and challenge – of creating a culture of learning, and the practices of coming together to foster innovation and creativity in community.

We have discovered many wonderful things about sustainability and working with what we have. We have learnt about eco-building, permaculture, renewable energy, health and healing and much more.

Much of this has been learnt the hard way. With success and failure walking side by side, we have tested and tried our basic beliefs and assumptions,  learning our way into what it means to be a learning community.

We are committed to really living what we know to be possible at Kufunda today.

And to offering programmes to share that learning with Zimbabweans and beyond.

New Stories Relationship

Maaianne Knuth, Kufunda’s Founder and Bob Stilger have know each other since the beginning of this century. As the idea for Kufunda started to take shape, it was only natural for NewStories to step forward and offer whatever support we could. At its core, the work of Kufunda is to create a new story for life in Zimbabwe and for people everywhere. NewStories has accepted donations on behalf of Kufunda from US donors, brought its stories into our repertoire, provided technical, professional and programatic assistance, and co-designed learning journeys to bring people from around the world to Kufunda to learn.
